We are excited to share a key focus of the implementation phase of our partnership will be developing a deep understanding of a single neighborhood — Westwood. We will be creating a list of all the organizations offering services, resources and other programming to support children from birth to age 8 and their families living in the Westwood neighborhood.
Our goal is to create a complete picture of the resources available to serve children and their families to ensure that kids are ready and able to succeed in school. We have created a survey to collect this information and hope you will share it with any groups providing services in this neighborhood bounded by South Federal Boulevard, West Alameda Avenue, Sheridan Boulevard and West Mississippi Avenue.
We are interested in services ranging from those directly supporting the development of language and literacy in young children to those services provided to adults for overall family support to ensure children have the stability and capacity for learning.
Why focus on a single neighborhood? We want to ensure we have ample time and opportunity to hear from those doing work in the neighborhood, and to connect with families and community groups living in Westwood to hear their perspectives. We know we’ll learn from this experience and will use those lessons as we add more neighborhoods moving forward.
